For the 2019 NGV Art of Dining, CHRISTOPHER BOOTS reimagines his signature materiality of hand finished metals, polished quartz, natural stone and gentle illumination, bringing his idea of ‘lavish excess’ to the table by giving diners both a tactile experience and a visual feast.
The work explores the architecture and geometry of organic shapes and structures found in nature. Inspired by forms forged by natural elements suggesting surreal and mythical ideas about creation and change, our designs elevate and transform materials in ways that highlight their natural beauty.
Stone plates, jewelled flatware, and striking floral treatments adorn our table encircling our mosaicked quartz and terrazzo luminaire in the table’s centre.
