CRUX, the studio’s newest lighting collection, debuted at Salone Del Mobile Milano 2024, and launched in Australia during Melbourne Design Week 2024.
In the heart of our southern sky lies Crux, a constellation of luminous stars used by early explorers to locate the South Pole. Commonly known as the Southern Cross, Crux features in cultures across the southern hemisphere in both heraldic and oral traditions alike, serving mixed interpretations, depending on the storyteller.
Inspired by this celestial guide, CRUX embodies the spirit of astral navigation. Excited by rocks and asteroids, we explored 3D printing through the design, yearning to honour the mysteries of the universe. Sand-cast brass rocky elements act as cups, nestling hand blown smoky glass stars, suspended on extruded brass rods aligning to the proportions of its namesake.
Each piece, variable in dimensions, mirrors the timeless dance of Crux across our cosmos. CRUX is a piece of the universe brought into our space, inspiring light as the Southern Cross guided mariners across the oceans of times past.
